Can I call at the last minute to have my dog placed with you?
Only if we have already screened your dog and we have space available, of course we'll accomodate your last minute request. Obviously, the busier we are, the more notice is required.
Do I need an Appointment?
YES, absolutely. For the security of the dogs boarding with us, we cannot permit unexpected visitors. We also want to meet you and assess your dog's temperament and ability to get along with the other dogs before he arrives for day care or boarding.
What do I do when I arrive for an appointment with my dog?
Please pull up to a parking spot and remain in your vehicle until someone comes to greet you. Again, this is for the safety and security of the dogs. All dogs on the property must be leashed until they get into the fenced yard.
Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered?
Yes, all dogs must be spayed or neutered unless it's a pup up to age 8 months old that is not yet sexually mature.
What about Shots & Fleas?
We require a certificate, letter or other proof that all vaccinations are up-to-date. We also strongly recomend all dogs to use a flea control product, such as Advantage, from April 15th to October. If your dog is on comination Heartworm/Flea control, you should be able to obtain single tubes of Advantage flea Control for April and May. Flea collars are not enough protection for dogs that are allergic to fleas.
How do you deal with Kennel Cough?
We require that your dog receive the intra-nasal or vaccination approximately 14 days prior to boarding. There is a yearly inocculation available now. Kennel Cough is caused by a virus and bacteria and vets are still not sure how it can occur out of nowhere in large groups of dogs. Prevention is less expensive than treatment.
What about my dog's food and bed/bedding?
Please mark the containers or bags with your dogs name and amounts to be given each meal. You may bring your dog's favourite blanket or bed but please mark those also with the dog's name.
My dog has a special diet and/or medication. Can you accommodate that?
We accommodate all special diets and can administer your dog's medication. Please provide enough food and medications to cover the length of your dog's stay with us.
Can my dog bring his/her own toys etc.?
Please limit the number of toys as we can not promise that all will be returned. We also have many different toys available.
Will my dog comes home dirty?
Not really! We let the dogs dig holes, roll in the dirt, swim and roll some more. They do what dogs do. We don't keep them in kennels and we aren't a grooming facility HOWEVER we do hose them off frequently. Your dog will be happily exhausted and ready for a long, long nap when he returns home. April is the filthiest month here. Melting snow and rain, etc, etc. We hate it as much as you do but the dogs LOVE IT! They bodysurf into puddles, race around splashing each other. We get as dirty as they are unfortunately.
Can I pick up my dog early?
Yes, we would never keep you from your dog BUT the spot is booked and we do not usually discount for an early departure.
